ELEANOR AND PARK

 ELEANOR AND PARK

ABOUT:  'Eleanor and Park' is the first young adult novel written by Rainbow Rowell. Published in 2012, the story follows dual narratives by Eleanor and Park, two misfits living in Omaha, Nebraska from 1986 to 1987. Eleanor, a chubby 16-year-old girl with curly red hair, and Park, a 16-year-old biracial Korean boy, meet on a school bus on Eleanor's first day at the school and gradually connect through comic books and mixtapes of 1980s music, sparking a love story.

PLOT: Set over one school year in 1986, Eleanor and Park is the story of two star-crossed misfits- smart enough to know the first love never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. Eleanor is the new girl in town, and she's never felt more alone. With all her mismatched clothes, mad red hair, and chaotic home life, she couldn't stick out more if she tried. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. Quiet, careful, and in Eleanor's eyes- impossibly cool, Park worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by. Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. They fall in love the way you do the first time when you're 16 and you have nothing and everything to lose.

REVIEW: This book was amazing! I read it in 3 days because I was so interested to keep on knowing what was going to happen next, that's how good the book was. When I started to read it I thought that it was weird but I read more and more and I really understood the meaning. I loved how there were such different people from such different lifestyles. the book was organized really well too, it was organized by how the characters felt at those moments and what was going on in their heads. when you knew what was going on, it was like you were in the book just watching the love story. it was such a lovely story that made you laugh, happy, and feel like the characters did at the moment. As you can see from what I've written I am obsessed with this book. I truly 100% recommend it.
